Bio: Mr. Gleason was born in Park Forest, Illinois, and raised primarily in central Indiana. He is the second of four boys. Joseph is a graduate of Purdue University and the John Marshall Law School. His father attended Georgetown University, served in the U. S. Navy as an officer and aerial navigator. Later, Joe’s father graduated from Indiana University School of Law and taught Admiralty and Maritime Law. His mother was a medical biologist, teacher, and graduate of the College of New Rochelle, in New Rochelle, New York.
Mr. Gleason has held a SEL/SES rating for over 15 years. He has supported the Aircraft Owners & Pilots Association (AOPA), Seaplane Pilots Association (SPA), and the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA). Joe is a solo law practitioner with experience in the following: Admiralty & Maritime Law, business formation and consulting, real estate development, and estate planning for asset protection. He is a former vice president and legal counsel for Florida Citrus Mutual in Lakeland, Florida. Mr. Gleason currently serves as a corporate counsel for Light Sport America, Inc., of Bartow, Florida. He writes book reviews on aviation topics for 20th Century Aviation Magazine. Joe has two daughters and five grandchildren by his former wife. All live near Indianapolis, Indiana.

Bio: Arthur J. Singer is a broadcaster, communications and media manager, and author. His first book, Arthur Godfrey: Adventures of an American Broadcaster was published in 2000 (McFarland and Co Inc) for which his son Michael, operator of the website Odd Ball Pilots.com, contributed heavily to the Radio’s Fly Boy chapter. Art was also executive producer of the A&E Biography, Arthur Godfrey: Broadcasting’s Forgotten Giant. A native of Boston, he holds two degrees from Boston University and spent 33 years in the public broadcasting industry as a producer, director, fund raiser, marketing executive and state network CEO. He also served as consultant to radio/ TV station boards and managers. He later became an Associate VP at Emerson College. Currently, he consults with broadcasting and nonprofit clients, is the founding President of the Mass. Broadcasters Hall of Fame, and is working on his third book.

Arthur Godfrey’s Granddaughter and spokesperson for The Arthur M. Godfrey Aviation Foundation, Inc.
Bio: Mary Amons is Arthur Godfrey’s granddaughter. She wishes to continue Mr. Godfrey’s legacy of performing and is currently pursuing a career in acting and motion pictures. Additionally, Ms. Amons does voice over and commercial work in New York and Los Angeles. Mary studied at the respected Studio Theatre conservatory program in Washington, D.C. She is presently working on a documentary film based upon the career of her grandfather. This project is focusing on Arthur Godfrey’s role as a prominent radio and television and his interest in aviation. Mary is a Cast Member of Bravo’s Real Housewives of DC. She is also the founder of Labels for Love, Inc. Ms. Amon proudly serves as a member of the Arthur M. Godfrey Aviation Foundation’s Board of Directors. Mary understands her grandfather’s deep passion for aviation, and she thinks fostering youngster’s interest in airplanes and flying is something that would please her late famous Grandfather. In fact, she commented, “I’m sure he would certainly be proud!”

Bio: Captain Judy Rice has dedicated her life to advancing aerospace education with twenty years in the industry and has accumulated many awards that recognize her accomplishments. Ms. Rice has logged over 3,000 hours in numerous aircraft and holds an instrument rating, commercial pilot certificate, advance ground instructor rating, certified flight instructor. She is the proud owner of a Grumman American AA-IA Yankee. Ms. Rice is Captain of the Think Global Flight.

Bio: John Amundson has a long history in aviation. This experience includes operating a flight school in Michigan prior to opening Tailwheels Etc. John was a Line Pilot who flew cargo planes for United Parcel Service and Chief Pilot for Classic Air Services. In conjunction with his son Jonathan, he created an accelerated flight training program. Through the curriculum students may obtain a private pilot license in only two weeks. John maintains memberships with the following organizations: EAA, AOPA, SPA, NAFI, SAFE, FSANA. Additionally, he is a board member of Flight Schools of North America.

Bio: Jon Brown began flying airplanes at the age of fourteen years. His father, a certified flight instructor, soloed Jon on his 16th birthday. Therefore, Jon was a licensed pilot before becoming a licensed driver. After graduating from college, Jon moved to Winter Haven to become a flight instructor at Jack Brown’s Seaplane Base. Upon his father’s death in 1975 Jon and his brother assumed the responsibilities of daily operation of the business. That same year Jon became a designated FAA Designated Flight Examiner and has now conducted over 14,000 flight tests. Jack Brown’s Seaplane Base is now in its 50th year of operation. Frequently, people ask Jon the following question: “What do you enjoy the most about your job?” Mr. Brown always responds, “Most certainly it is introducing people to the wonderful world of float flying.”
